What's Your Favorite Thing About Fall?

Cooking for the Soul

First off, let me get started by saying I'm not one who likes to throw a pity party.  Even when I am down, I like to remain positive on the outside.  At least I try to.  I'm not perfect though.

Today's just been one of those days. I'll admit, I'm a little down today.  Which is fine.  I will be fine.  It happens from time to time.

The day started off pretty much okay to begin with.  No complaints.  But it can take one thing to set you off. Just as it can take one thing to bring you back (like a smile).  I suppose I am just left wondering, which friends I can truly trust.  Who's gonna say one thing and then go behind your back and say another.  As I had stated before, I'm not perfect. And nobody is.  But one things for sure, I'm a loyal friend.

But enough of this negative crap.  I can't let this stupid shit bring me down. That's not what matters. One thing (besides my kids and hubby of course) that can help lift up my spirits? Cooking. Yes, cooking!

I do tend to make easier things I guess.  So what? I'll make the occasional stuffed peppers, casseroles, etc.  But yes, usually it's easier stuff.  I like to challenge myself though. So I'm trying to get into more cooking and find some good recipes.  Thanks to Rachel Ray, I want to try to make a very delicious (looking and sounding) Italian Potato Cake. And dammit, I will make it too. ;) In the near future....sometime.

I find that cooking is good for the soul. At least in my honest opinion.  See because to me, when I make something I could be really proud of, it makes me feel good.  So, I guess for having a "down" day, I can do just fine by cooking it away.  If that makes any possible sense at all. hah

So when it's just one of those days, set out to do something that you could be proud of.  Something and/or anything that makes YOU feel better.

Memo to Self

Stop eating like you're still pregnant!

It's been over 4 months since the baby came into this lovely world and yet, my appetite is still on the generous side.  Okay, maybe the overly generous side.  It takes alot more for me now to get full than before. This would be fine and dandy, if it weren't for those last 10 pounds that want to just linger around.

What's that you say? Exercise? Pffft! Yeah, right. :p  Well, wait....I do get exercise. Sort of.  It includes chasing around my toddler, running around from point A to point B, taking care of the little one, walking to work (nearly a mile to from the train station). So, uhhh that counts, right?  Hey, whatever makes one sleep better at night is what I say.

The word "Diet" isn't in my vocab.  I love my carbs waaaay too much and I have the ultimate sweet tooth pretty regularily.  So, diet's not an option.

So until those last 10 pounds decide to go far, far away, I suppose I'll just suck it up and take it like a woman.  hahaha  Hey, I mean who ever said extra weight is a problem? Ten pounds is nothing, really.  And at least I still have my good ole maternity pants.  Sure, I still wear my regular pants, but not gonna lie, I wear those maternity pants still.  They're comfy and forgiving.

So even though I'd like my jelly belly to leave, let's be realistic here, I'm not expecting to be toned like Gwen or anything.  That'll NEVER happen.  But that's fine by me.  I am me.  Jelly belly, love handles and all.  And screw it, I guess I might as well eat what the hell I want, while I still can.

So this brings me to my next memo to self:  What's for lunch?  Mmmmm.  I'm hungry.

Fall Into Fall

I love this time of year! Just love it.  You name it and just about anything that has to do with fall, I love.  The heavy and sometimes very humid air from the summer has been lifted and in it's place is a cool, refreshing feeling in the air that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Ever since I could remember, fall has been my favorite season.  Hayrides, pumpkin patches/farms, taffy apples, the fall foliage, Halloween & Thanksgiving, just the weather...... . I even love the gloomy and overcast skies.  Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with sunny days, but I've always liked cloudy and overcast days.

I'm looking forward to the next couple weekends of sharing these wonderful fall favorites and traditions, with my kids.  I think it's those little things that seem to light you up.

Writer's Block, much?

Funny how words flow in my head so perfectly and I can think of something actually halfway interesting to write when I'm not near a computer, but put me in front of a keyboard, and my mind goes about as blank as.....umm, well apparently I can't even think of a word for that right now. Hahaha.  Blame it on the fatigue.  Yeah, that's it! Wow, I'm literally writing about NOTHING. This is what you get when you try to blog when you're pooped out.  But I felt like I had to write something.

Guess it's a good time to go catch up on some shows that we DVR'd.  Oh and THANK GOD for dvrs.  All I'm sayin'.  For a T.V. addict such as myself, it comes in handy when you have about, oh, 5,142 shows you watch. But more about my love for T.V. later.  Ohhh, oh.... but what about that show, "New Girl"?  Oh my gosh, what a cute show! Love it! If you haven't watched it yet, I suggest you tune it to that.

Okay, time to go watch some shows.  Bye for now.

Here I am! (My Intro)

....And my blog cherry has now been officially popped.  Yes, that's what I'm going with and I'm sticking to it.  My sense of humor is, oh I don't know...I little odd or quirky I suppose.  You'll get used to it.  Or you won't.  So if I haven't lost you yet, here's a briefing on me:

I'm Jamie (obviously!).  Born in Chicago, but I reside in the 'burbs.  Working in the city is enough for me, I don't need to pay a fortune and live there.  No, thank you.  Anyways, I'm married and we have two wonderful kids.  They are really the highlights of my life, without a doubt.  They keep me plenty busy, that's for damn sure.

I could list my likes and dislikes right now but in time, in my future blogs, you'll truly see what I DO like and dislike.  So why list it and bore you.  Plus, it sorta sounds like an ad or something.  haha  I don't know, to me anyways.

Well, enough of that for now.  Stay tuned for more blogging goodness fun.
